The Landice Elliptimill: This is a wonderful piece of equipment. My parents have an L7 treadmill and now I have the ElliptiMill. The quality of the Landice products are exceptional, I will never consider any other brand. Thanks for making such great products.
We have been selling Landice products in our stores since 1994 and have nothing but good luck selling and delivering these products to our customers. The elliptimill is a major part of our high end home and commercial product line. Landice makes a quality product and delivers in every way.

We love the fact that this user likes Jacobs Ladder and has set some goals. But please don’t get the impression that after 3 minutes, the normal person is exhausted. Many first time users will take off on Jacobs Ladder and try going the same cadence they would on an Elliptical machine. On an Elliptical, you are pushing against a clutch. On Jacobs Ladder, you are lifting your entire body weight over a 12″ step. Maybe you’ve seen some of the remarkable videos of athletes going really fast on the Ladder. Trust us, they make it look easy. So we tell people all of the time, if you are not a training athlete, slow down. Start out at 50-60 feet per minute. It will seem slow at first but you will get a feel for the intensity and the movement. Once you do, you can go any speed/distance combination that you like.

Company Name: Spirit Fitness
General Information: Spirit is a company that was started in the early 80’s and has produced many types of products and started producing fitness products in the late 80’s. They are known for product innovation. Their treadmills are typically mid-priced. Dyaco purchased Spirit a few years ago and all of their production is offshore. The quality has been improving and Dyaco has made a huge investment in the Spirit brand.
Manufacturing Philosophy: The once totally US owned factory is now a subsidiary of Dyaco who hails from Taiwan. The practice of putting good parts in their treadmills has continued once again and they are trying to fill the value segment with many decent choices. With heavy competition from Icon, Horizon, and Pacemaster, it will be interesting to see how they do.
Company Outlook: Dyaco’s has poured quite a bit of money into the Spirit brand to revitalize it and the results are showing. Their move to a more value oriented business should help their results.
The XT185 has a short belt, only 50″ which even based on your height would be short in my opinion. Plus Spirit designed that treadmill for walking, not running. The XT285 would be a much better option because is has a 55″ long belt, larger motor, double the parts/electronics warranty, and has the heart rate control. -Castletonia 04/02/2008
The Spirit XT185 has a 7.5” blue backlit LCD screen that conveniently displays 9 pieces of data at a time to keep you informed and motivated. The Cooling fans are nice however this treadmill does not have a lot of upgrades that other spirit models have and other treadmills in this price range for that matter. The 6 programs that it features are very basic. Also have a short belt so if you are a long strider this might be of some concern. It does fold up so if you are looking to save space this is a plus. Overall this machine is a lot of money for not a lot of bells and whistles.
This is my Landice L7. I’ve been running on this treadmill for 7 years now. I’ve run on many treadmills before but this one happens to be the most dependable and reliable treadmill I’ve ever owned. It’s never given me any trouble.
